Regarding Has this ever happened to you? "Longtime friends discover they're cousins"... This has happened to me. I was chairing the Lost Treasures committee for the San Diego genealogical society and one of the committee members and I realized our ancestors, mine was Ada Coon and hers was Julius Wescott (whose mother had the surname of Potter) were related by a second marriage. My committee member and I inventoried the society's projects such as Family Bibles, Photos and other documents and now we share our own work on our own genealogy. I would say that is pretty ironic.
